Am I in the wrong to think the autism announcement wasn’t bad? I read the announcement and it only had a link between pregnancy and acetaminophen to autism and the drug that is associated with better speech development. Am I missing something?

It might not be terrible if this was coming from your drunk friend who’s not a doctor and just wants to shoot the shit but this is the federal government, they’re supposed to be professionals. Professionals don’t base medical policy on nitpicked or insignificant data

Note that I didn’t listen to the speech. And I don’t really agree with the sentiment that autism is something that has to be “fixed” but that’s something I think a lot of people regardless of political affiliation think anyway. I just think this wasn’t nearly as negative as everyone is saying it is

Right the speech is kind of the actual issue here. The study itself doesn’t even claim the connection is anything more than circumstantial.

Also this is almost definitely just a distraction from Epstein or some other crime that the trump admin doesn’t want people talking about lol

Oh I agree. For my own sake I don’t wanna shit on every decision the president does without my own basis. I just don’t want to mindless shit on something he does without knowing the facts that’s why I asked. Clearly asking is a crime though

I get that for sure. I don’t think asking is a crime, I just think most people are past trusting trumps federal gov to be honest about anything so they might be a bit impatient with those who aren’t. We’ve seen that they’re willing to lie anytime about almost anything, big or small. The safe assumption at this point is that if they are speaking, they are lying

I agree 100%, it’s just when I argue with my friends or family, I don’t like to argue about rhetoric because they will just excuse it if I argue about it outside of “facts” first. So I wanted to ask about anything I missed policy wise. Also I just didn’t have time to watch the speech and what they said, so I just wanted to ask why specifically people take problem with the announcement besides current context in the most critical place I could quickly get an answer.

So I got my answer I’m just annoyed I didn’t feel comfortable enough to turn profile on or thinking it wouldn’t upset people 😓 I should have just waited until I could do extra research myself instead of asking. I also don’t like watching the speech bc of the rhetoric so I asked to cover that blind spot but clearly I should have just looked at the news and try to verify it myself

That’s how it goes! I’ve been there myself. I will say that I think rhetoric is extremely important and not secondary to “facts” at all. Sometimes it’s more important honestly. The trump admin occasionally uses real facts but the rhetoric it’s wrapped in is what does the damage
