I want to live in a world where men can wear dresses and paint their nails and no one bats an eye. I feel like women have more flexibility because it’s understood why we want to appear masculine, but being feminine is still seen as bad. The fuck is that.

my super masculine coworker has his toenails painted by his 3 daughters all the time. like pedicure level of attention on his toenails but he wears steel toe boots to work. he does land maintenance, hunts deer, plays softball, sells scrap metal, etc.

Yup. Men AND even most women are taught to deeply despise femininity from a very young age. View it as inferior/shameful/stupid/etc. A lot of women are able to unlearn this as they grow, but for a lot of men, the disgust only hardens over time.

we already do live in that world but it just seems like we’re held accountable to those judgements if they’re harsh. but when harsh judgements are necessary, we pussyfoot around until everyone forgets about it which pisses me off lmao.
