Unfortunately it shouldn’t be used as a replacement for it. This really underscores our need for easy access to mental health services

Absolutely, it certainly is not a replacement. If I had adequate mental health services in rural areas I’d much rather be using it

Maybe you could look into telehealth? There might still be restrictions on doing it across state lines though

Honestly, Im not against telehealth, but it’s not the type of experience that works for me. I work from home, so part of therapy is getting a new environment when I’m not around the same people that can hear me through the walls. There’s something about human to human spaces I really appreciate, and phone calls don’t do it for me, it’s harder for me to get vulnerable

Mmm that makes sense. I do my telehealth visits over a video call so I can see her, but it doesn’t work as well for everyone. I figured I’d bring it up if there aren’t good therapists around you. It would take an hour to get to mine and it’s way easier to see her over a video call
