I mean, it is slightly radioactive, but the reason it glows is because of fluorescence under UV light

In these specific minerals I think it’s manganese that’s causing the fluorescence, the orange/red is calcite the green is willemite

☝️🤓 technically speaking what causes the fluorescence is excited electrons less tightly bound in the Mn² impurities releasing absorbed energy from the UV. Short wave (254 nm) has the best effect on these
