It was part of Mexico with a population of 1,600. Mexico existed for 27 years when they were annexed

I didn’t say Israel was a religion, but you can be ethnically Jewish, or religiously Jewish, and the flag of Israel can sometimes be used as a declaration of faith, not heritage. There’s no gymnastics involved in that whatsoever.
