The profit largely came from the fact that, due to having oceans on either side of us, we were basically the only nation after the war with a fully intact industrial infrastructure. Happenstance, nothing we owe anyone for.

it literally was. we refused to get involved too early due to potential economic impact of the war, and only joined after confirmation of the concentration camps and such as it forced our hand don’t be mistaken into thinking we were some gracious antifascist movement, we inadvertently adopted some of the same Naziism we were fighting, and after the war we (along with other nations) talent scouted the nazi scientists that worked under Hitler.
