i never said that their lack of an education excuses their hate? all i said is that it is unfair to generalize about entire regions and classes of people. a lot of the stereotypes used against trump supporters are actually based in classism and racism, and it detracts from any argument when those stereotypes are used.
I’m born and raised in the worst of those regions. My state is consistently completely red during elections. Generalize the shit out of us, I know they aren’t talking about me and putting their pride on blast evokes more thought from them than any discussion. You cannot be polite with these people you have to break them down
This whole be civil, don’t dehumanize them bs is the reason this happened. Democrats coddled the poor behavior while Magats spewed hate and propaganda. You can’t love the hate out of these people, you have to burn it out. Stop taking the high road because that only encourages their elitist narrative and get your hands dirty
i couldnt care less if they demonize the ACTUAL people supporting such hate, but language is important. it shapes how we deal with things. generalizing regions leads to mistreatment and neglect of regions. not everyone in the south (for example) supports trump, but everyone in the south will have to face the impact of harmful rhetoric. most of the stereotypes are classist and racist, and i dont understand how you can try to defend that.
