He’s a lawyer making a legal argument. This is literally an article outlining how outrageous it is to suggest a 16 year old should be able to consent to sex, therefore even moreso it’s ridiculous to suggest a 16 year old can consent to get an abortion without parental or state interference (the only 2 things that currently make statutory rape a thing). Since girls can get abortions at 16, as well as the ALLEGED fact that younger generations are hitting puberty earlier, (Idk if this is true or not or if hes just talking about girls looking “mature for their age“ or some shit) the age of consent should be lowered to 14 or 15

He isn’t advocating to raise the age of consent or the age to get a secret abortion, nor does it seem he is against abortion, he is arguing that the age of consent shd align with the age girls can get an abortion without parental knowledge. This is an incredibly stupid comparison, the abortion age is so that high schoolers having sex for the first time dont become parents and dont have to worry about getting disowned for getting an abortion. He is pointing out the very clear legal inconsistencies in saying 16 year olds can both consent to decisions on reproduction but simultaneously cannot consent to sex which leads to reproduction. To lower one admits the other is also true. Either they can consent or not. And if they can (as the abortion law admits), then for what reason are you not lowering the age of consent as well?

Are you a pedophile bro? First of its clear that he isnt JUST pointing out a contradiction, he is specifically using it to push for lowering the age of consent so grown men like himself can legally fuck 15 year olds. Its also not an inconsistency, there is a difference between consenting to a medical procedure and consenting to sexual intercourse. A minor cannot give consent to sex, period. Maybe you were a virgin in high school, but its very common for kids to have sex before 18.

Two 16 year olds having sex is not the same as a 30 year old having sex with a 16 year old, legally in neither scenario can consent be given but if they are the same age then who rly cares, if they make a mistake or maybe never got proper sexual education and the girl gets pregnant, she shouldnt have to choose between giving birth at 16 or potentially being disowned by her family or something, kids are dumb and who knows maybe their parents are abusive, the abortion shd be no questions asked

You are not making a logical or legal argument. You can’t just arbitrarily make a legal exception because you think kids shouldn’t be afraid of getting yelled at by their parents. Either the law considers them to have a level of autonomy that they have the capacity to consent to or they don’t.

Im not talking about getting yelled at you nimrod I mean beaten, kicked out, or even killed, and not just by the kids parents either, in a lot of these conservative communities you will literally be shunned by the entire populace if they find out you had an abortion, or even just premarital sex, and the thing is the wealthy Christian women in these places will be pro life in public but secretly travel out of state to get an abortion if they need to, high school students dont have that luxury
