The way some churches treat addicts, orphans, the homeless, etc is honestly predatory sometimes.
Aid should never ever be tied to adopting faith or conformity. That isn’t charity, that is coercion.
“They don’t have to accept it” starve or conform??
Usually they give the food and supplies out regardless of if we convert. You've obviously never been poor before

I'm not religious but churches fed me and gave me money when I was facing eviction. Self-righteous leftists havent come around to pass me groceries the way churches have yet

I said some churches. I was poor but we want to the government and co-ops for aid, not churches.

Clearly you haven’t studied the history of the church. Magdalene homes are a stain on it and that is just one terrifying and egregious example.

Did you not hear about the woman that called different churches asking for food for her baby and majority turned her down?

Probably because they recognize ahe was a grifter making a point and that there was no actual child to take care of. Not the gotcha you think it is when you're speaking to someone who was given enough food to feed myself for weeks by these guys

Nevermind the fact that, again, leftist organizations in my city won't do rhe same. They're too focused on joy as resistance and not actually providing material needs. Sounds alot like what they accuse the churches of

A lot of them said they only provide aid for members. One that did offer to provide help was this lovely old southern man who immediately said yes. The mosques also said they would help.

“Joy as resistance” isn’t the goal of any serious leftist organization. Are you sure you aren’t taking about liberals an progressives
