Is this about the EO that says courts can’t turn over Venezuelan assets to Venezuela?

On its face it looks like it does help Venezuela. It looks like a plan to allow the return of Venezuelan assets that may have been seized. I have zero clue what the context or consequences of this could be though

OHHHHH. So ConocoPhillips and ExxonMobil are essentially owed money from Venezuela. This protects VZ’s assets in the US from being handed over to those companies by a court

i feel like they should have said this instead of the nothing burger reasonings that they did post. We already know youre working with oil companies dont try and hide it now.

I interpreted this action the opposite way. If a court finds these companies’ claims against VZ legitimate and awards them those assets, the court actually can’t give it to them. This could hurt the oil companies. I bet they’re wondering wtf this means, unless some discussion is already happening with them. This might be used towards Venezuela as some sort of reward or something

But it could also go the opposite way I guess. It seems like it’s basically telling the courts “you don’t get to decide anything regarding this money anymore”, which seems like a violation of checks and balances. But how the US has controlled the assets of other countries has always been shady. This is a super long read but it might be interesting and provide some background: https://prospect.org/2025/11/26/30-billion-dollar-identity-theft-of-venezuela/
