not so fun fact: this attitude aligned her with jimmy savile, a philanthropist and radio/tv personality known for his philanthropy towards public works like hospitals, being used as the beaming light of how charity is better than government aid. the had a documented friendship and she lobbied for his knighthood. savile was also a massive sexual predator with 450 alleging sexual assault by him with police records pointing to there being 589, and likely many many more.

the institutions he donated to were so reliant on his funding that he was given unobstructed access to children, the elderly, the dead, people with terminal illness, mental illness, and the disabled. his predatory behavior had been documented and the only reason he wasn’t caught sooner is that people in power turned a blind eye and continued to give him power. he was untouchable as he served as a cash cow himself and was too useful a tool to forward thatchers cause
