GIVE DUE PROCESS. If you want to deport someone, do so legally. Abide by the American way of life, in our land, our laws. If you cannot do that or are offended by it, then leave. END OF DISCUSSION.

Careful now, you’ll hurt their feelings telling them to do something so upsetting as following their own laws

Literally agree with deporting most illegals, but how can you not see the extreme mismanagement of this administration with dozens of stories of people getting deported or even just arrested that shouldn’t be

Dude you realize deportation has always happened this way?

Yes. Give due process to all citizens!

Due process actually applies to all persons in the US, not just citizens

It literally does not matter the constitution guarantees due process to every person

How do you determine whether someone is a citizen or not without due process?

Do we even have the resources to do that for every single one

Yes

no don't listen to them

If we don’t have the resources to constitutionally do something correctly, then we shouldn’t be trying to do that thing in the first place. Looking for ways to subvert the constitution is looking for ways for American democracy to fall.

we are doing the constitutionally correct thing we aren't breaking our own laws

the INA allows this

The INA allows for due process to not be applied? That sounds like an unconstitutional law to me

it's part of law illegals don't get the same due process

Quick civics question: which takes precedent, the constitution or a law?

upvote 11 downvote
default user profile icon

why would you want to waste tax dollars going through every individual illegal immigrant that's so backwards

upvote -5 downvote

If you create a subclass of people in a country that due not have due process, you can justify putting anyone in that class. This is a simple lesson in how fascism works.

Law does the constitution allows it that's why it's a law how it's allowed to be a law and why it got passed

Because the minute we stop caring about due process is the minute that we've allowed a police force to be above the law.

How do you determine who’s illegal?

upvote 10 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> #8 5w

You do realize that nearly 1,000,000 “illegals” actually legally came here. Trump just didn’t like that Biden let them in so now he’s saying they’re criminals, trying to convince feeble minds such as yourself that they’re actually these horrible criminal scum, even tho they did nothing wrong.

Notice i didnt say a subclass of citizens? I said a subclass of people. If you say that anyone who is illegal does not get a day in court where the state proves they are illegal, then the state can accuse anyone of being illegal and remove them, whether or not they are actually illegal, because the state no longer has to prove it.

You can’t make a deal with someone then say “actually the old boss gave you too much time so I’m gonna cancel our contract”

That’s a fair debate to have. But we shouldn’t treat the people who were told it was legal like they’re criminals. Not only is it immoral, it is unconstitutional. The president shouldn’t have the authority to override the constitution.

the president can decide to change that legal status it was never permanent

But he shouldn’t have the right to say “actually your contract ends early. Oh and also I’m going to convince my voter base that you’re all criminals who deserve this”

upvote 9 downvote

why shouldn't it be and they aren't treated like a criminal if they self deport which most do

upvote -1 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> #8 5w

Because those people were promised something. In literally any other situation, there are legal protections against breaking contracts like that. I don’t believe the president should be held above that. That’s incredibly dangerous for democracy. Even if Donald Trump does nothing dangerous himself with that (id argue he has already) what’s stopping the next democrat president from doing it?

Except it hasn’t. In the past, illegal immigrants were taken if substantial evidence pointed to their illegal migration, they then received a right to trial and, if found guilty, were deported back to their own country. Nowadays, immigrants can be deported off minimal reasoning and are not allowed the right to a fair trial, with notable examples such as Abrego Garcia being deported without ever stepping foot in any coutroom.

Yes we do, and we know that because we’ve done immigration sweeps like this before, though definitely not to the extent it’s at now.

why would you want to waste tax dollars holding immigrant at a detainment center in florida where they're mistreated, rather than giving everyone due process which is cheaper than housing them?
