Serious question, what do you make of Xinjiang? Of Barin 1990, Urumqi 2009? Why are Turkish people treated as a spectre in China, a threat to focus on and dehumanize like the French in Algeria, the Israelis against Palestinians, the Americans and the Russians against the Afghanis, the Indonesian government against the Chinese and countless other countries? I dream of socialism but I am troubled by these spectres made of ethnic groups, continually used around the world.

I will say this. There are those that claim Xinjiang is not Turkic because the prior history of the region was comprised of other ethnic groups. That is the same thing the Zionists used to justify occupation of Muslim land today, the idea that in 300 AD Jewish people were majority, while failing to acknowledge the change in dynamics that lead to a millennia plus dynamic of Arabic majority. The same can be observed in Xinjiang in 1000 AD until now.
