yes, they can file taxes under an identification number (different than a ssn) from the irs. plenty of people on work visas use these. also, paychecks immediately take out state and federal taxes, and most employers require an address for a w-2 to be sent to. undocumented immigrants pay well over $90 billion into a system that they cannot use (social security, food stamps, medicare, etc)

^ that or they give the employer a fake or stolen SSN, so they’re basically paying taxes under someone else’s name

Not true, undocumented immigrants can still have an ITN number, which is different than an SSN, and allows them to file taxes
