To be cliche, the journey beats the destination. To be specific, think how different messages reach different people who want the same goal. How that strategy travels in different ways. What’s the journey, rather than the end game?

I imagine it has to do with what sources they were getting information on the elections from. Not exactly the same but during that election my super conservative parents started distrusting fox news when they started reporting that biden was projected to win the election and switched to newsmax where they were still confident that trump was winning

See that’s a great example for a multi-dimensional period of time. The avenues for information or misinformation. That’s matters big time.
