You guys do realize that the Iraq and vietnam wars were ALSO to topple dictatorships, right? Just because you do imperialism on an oppressed country, doesn’t make it okay. It’s just oppression with extra steps.

Vietnam was not to topple a dictatorship. South Vietnam was also a dictatorship. Vietnam was to prevent the growth of communism. Yes, and Saddam Hussein was a genocidal maniac (look the Halabja Massacre) and Iraq is FAR better off with him gone. There’s a reason he got killed by his own people.

Iraq and Vietnam were not 3 hour successes. How does nobody understand how important that difference is? Yes, this could have failed and become a major conflict, but it didn’t, it was over in 3 hours.

You can draw direct parallels to the Iraq war literally shot for shot sound bite for sound bite, the arguments, reasoning, and strategies are all exactly the same.
