The hard truth is that if the Republicans had competent leaders, the Democratic Party would be a dying cause. Trump is their only cling to life because they can just run on “Trump bad” and win because, well, he’s bad. Post-Trump, they’re really fucked

Kamala’s team came up with super in-depth explanations of what her policies were and how they were trying to help people. Trump ran on “MAKE AMERICA ______ AGAIN” where the blank was anything his voters had strong feelings about, like great, affordable, safe, etc. Not to mention the “concepts of a plan” moment. And Trump still won the election. So clearly no one actually gives a fuck what anyone runs on anymore. Not like it ever meant anything anyway

And yet if the DNC were competent at all they would be okay. See Mamdani won with the establishment DNC and GOP both against him lmao. But yes right now democrats are only popular because trump keeps shooting himself in the foot

That’s basically my point. Way more Americans align with the Republican agenda, but the image of Trump, his ignorance, and his unprofessionalism repulses many voters. Once he is gone and someone who can formulate a proper sentence takes over the Republican Party, Dems are really screwed unless they can find a unifying, populist candidate (potentially Newsom?)

Mamdani is a poor example because NYC politics are not indicative of nationwide politics or even the full state of New York. Cuomo ran basically on Republican policies and him and Sliwa got like 49% of the vote… in NYC. There are bigger issues than competency within the DNC

They just don’t though? Republicans are like 30% of the population. Most “red states” are only red due to gerrymandering, or would be purple without it. If republicans hadn’t been given free rein to cheat since 2000, they would hold basically no power nationally, and would’ve had to adapt. As an example, the Sanders agenda polled at 65-70% if you didn’t label it as democratic.

You do realize that gerrymandering does nothing for statewide elections right?

I was referring to state legislatures primarily… there’s other tactics for statewide though, mainly targeted voter roll purges and strategic closing of polling places (i.e. make 200,000 urbanites who are likely left leaning use on, while a small town of 2,000 has two or three sites)

Well polling shows that the younger generations are proportionally way more right leaning than previous generations were at said age while the boomer generation is more left leaning. As the boomers die out and the Republicans replace Trump with someone who can structure his policies in a concise and clear (professional) manner, Dems will have big problems.
