What you’re describing is only true for a small fraction of the population. Most people don’t see the American flag as a hate symbol. Speaking as a leftist, I disagree

A nations flag should not instill fear in a significant portion of the population; the current US flag is past the point of no return and is entering into the same territory as the swastika and the confederate flag
