Utah was founded as a New Zion and the Mormons consider themselves to be the descendants of the ancient Israelites scattered to Europe. They have a ceremony where they are assigned what tribe of Israel they are. They believed that Utah was a promised land given to them by the authority of God and believed they had the right to displace the native people (which the Mormons thought were Israelites who turned against God and were thus turned brown).

Do you have any idea the legitimizing religious power that would give the Mormons? The US would collapse to a Mormon religious revolution and be like Iran but without coffee or sturdy bed frames

The Mormons believe that the Garden of Eden was in Missouri and left for Utah after repeated conflicts in Missouri and Illinois where they had previously attempted to settle. Utah was a location outside of the authority of the U.S. government where they could construct a new religious Utopianist society. The developed their own militia. They developed a new Deseret Alphabet. Utah was created with the intent to form a new country.

Original post is an odd joke but there is a genuinely fascinating historical background and connection between the justifications and reasoning for the creation of both Utah and Israel. There are a lot more similarities than you would expect at first glance.
