The generational divide in support for Israel is actually crazy

Well it’s because back in the day it was easier for governments to manipulate narratives, to make it seem like Israel wasn’t that bad. Nowadays, when everyone’s got a camera in their pocket, and can directly broadcast the realities on the ground to the entire world, Israel is difficult to run cover for.

Alright, check “an encounter with anon who’s baselessly called me a Nazi every day for like a year and a half” off the yik yak bingo card for the day

Yeah, you’re baselessly calling this guy a Nazi for stating a fact about the Information Age. Hate to break it to you man, but defending and supporting a genocidal rogue state is in fact, as Nazi as it gets

He’s been calling me that for a very long time, ever since I explained that oppressed peoples have the internationally enshrined legal and moral right to rebel against their oppressors, and that sometimes that resistance is ugly.

History didn’t start on October 7th, 2023. I simply do not look at that day in a vacuum. I remember the Great March of Return, in which peaceful protestors were mercilessly shot by IDF snipers. I remember when Israel destroyed the Associated Press building in Gaza to keep press about their atrocities from getting out. If you protest peacefully, and you get shot for it, and then they blow up the journalists reporting on it, then of course the only option left is going to be to start shooting back

Also, didn’t Israelis literally riot in the streets over the prospect that IDF soldiers would be prosecuted for raping Palestinian hostages? And then the Israeli government fired the prosecutor over it, while those soldiers who were caught ON CAMERA raping an imprisoned man, saw zero consequences?

“Most moral nation in the world” and they’re rioting in the streets for the right to rape the people they’ve already taken everything from and oppressed for 75 years. I don’t think it makes someone a Nazi to condemn that country in the harshest possible terms, but it might make you one to defend that kind of thing.
