Mfw the world changes in 1500-2000 years 🤯. Omw to go visit Sheba, Kush, and Illyricum And for the record the name “Palestine” is basically just what the Greeks called the Levant due to the Philistines and was used by Herodotus in the 5th century BCE.

Also like the narrative in the Bible is that the Israelites showed up and genocided all the Canaanites to take the land for themselves. *I* don’t believe that’s what happened because it’s not what the archaeology shows (the Israelites in reality emerged from local Canaanite populations), but like if we take “who was here first” as the end all be all and are using the bible as a main source…

It’s been called Palestine by Greeks since the 5th century BC and the use of it officially comes from the Romans after the Bar Kokhba Revolt and the expulsion of many Jews, where they renamed the province of Judea to the province of Syria Palaestina. This name was maintained by the Byzantines, Arabs, and Turks. Most of the local Jewish and Samaritan populations converted to Christianity and Islam and became modern Palestinians.

Parts of it was Israel, parts of it was various other states. The name “Palestine” was used by the Greeks (based on the Philistines) while the Achaemenids, for example, used “Yehud” based on Judea. But like this shit doesn’t matter because we shouldn’t base people’s right to live on ancient names from 2500 years ago.

The Israelites originated in the region (which contradicts the narrative of the Bible), while the Philistines were Aegean Greeks who arrived during the Bronze Age collapse. But we don’t go “oh the Japanese get to conquer Korea because they lived in Korea 2500 years ago!”
