How did an Afghan special forces soldier still manage to fuck it up when he was shooting at two unarmed soldiers from BEHIND. I mean Jesus Christ it makes sense the Taliban didn’t even need to fight the ANA to take over

“Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem confirmed on social media that the suspect had entered from Afghanistan in September 2021 under a Biden-era program called Operation Allies Welcome, which provided entry to Afghan nationals fleeing the Taliban takeover of their country after the chaotic withdrawal of U.S. troops.” https://www.nytimes.com/live/2025/11/27/us/national-guard-shooting-dc

They’re not trained, not even close compared to our military. Even the national guard is a brutal boot camp and they continuously train during their time served. National guard is really just the army that serves domestic issues.

My old platoon sergeant worked with a lot of these guys, and the general consensus was that the country was gonna fall when we left no matter how badly we beat the Taliban in battle. The Afghan troops were just so completely useless it didn’t matter

Two different things. My guess is that he originally came here on a Special Immigrant Visa, which was given to many interpreters and informants that helped the US in Afghanistan. The Daily Beast is reporting that he applied for asylum in 2024 and it was granted in 2025. https://www.thedailybeast.com/donald-trump-approved-national-guard-shooting-suspect-rahmanullah-lakanwal-afghanistan-dhs-kristi-noem-asylum/

Yeah there’s a semantic issue here. He *entered* the US in 2021. Was granted asylum in 2025

This guy’s strike force (KSF-03) was CIA-trained and armed

Granting asylum to people who’d likely face torture in their home countries because they helped the US military is fairly bipartisan
