Confederate sympathizers are weird af. “It’s my heritage” bro you have like 300 years of heritage to pick from and you land on the 4 where you all ate shit so you could own humans

You were in high school for the same amount of time that the confederacy lasted. People need to shut the fuck up and admit they’re racist

Genuinely. The confederacy was formed explicitly for the defense of slavery and existed for such a short amount of time.

And they always go “these days people want us to ignore our history and constantly apologize and be filled with white guilt” like who is asking you that

Not only did the Natives participate in the Atlantic chattel slave trade but they also commonly enslaved each other in war

Could be argued that some of them on some level were fighting for their right to own people instead of being owned by them

Although I guess they did have like 10k more years of being nomadic tribespeople in America so thats pretty dope

You are leaving out a lot of context. It was southeastern tribes specifically that partook in the Atlantic slave trade but they did it because they were being pressured to assimilate with plantation culture in the south. And Natives have been around for thousands of years before the confederacy??

I said that

They also, as previously mentioned, commonly enslaved each other in war so its not like slavery was an entirely new concept to them when the Atlantic slave trade came into play

In the same way the South was, they were fighting mainly for their sovereignty from the US, which included them to continue being allowed to enslave people.

There's a lot of similarities you can draw between the two but to say that they're both just being sore losers is somehow offensive because one's white n the other ain't 😂

My ancestors from that time period were super prominent slave owners and confederates. It has no impact on my life, I don’t feel guilt and no one expects me to apologize for anything or feel bad about it. I think the people who say otherwise just think stuff like “slavery was bad and racism is bad” are personal attacks because they’re racist and don’t want to admit it.

Off topic but there’s a man out there who pretends to be one of my relatives for historical reenactments. His website claims he’s a direct descendant of the dude, but he’s absolutely not. Like be so for real, you’re pro “preserving your history” but it’s not even your history.
