Is this a plot to reduce inflation by convincing citizens and non-citizens to destroy their own currency, thus taking it out of circulation?

Donald Trump wants his face on a $1 coin. Will it happen?

Kim Jong Un would say this is egotistical. It’s literally illegal to have a living person’s face on US money but Dear Leader needs to put his putrid visage on everything

Why would this convince them to destroy normal currency? The coin itself is dumb and egotistical, but the creation of a new coin shouldn’t make consumers start destroying their own bills.

You saw a post of one person destroying a coin and extrapolated that to the entire nation and money supply? Idk I doubt people would destroy their own currency to “own” Trump. Also, it wouldn’t reduce inflation bc the coins don’t exist yet and they would have to be minted. Even if they were minted, they’re not going to affect inflation because it isn’t being injected to the economy and sent to civilians, probably going to be sold for like 20$ with Trump retaining all proceeds.
