I think like 95% of the time the accusations that the left is antisemitic just mean they support palestinians but like. I literally have run into antisemitic leftists. And denying those people exist is *also* antisemitic

I’m sure there are like 3 people who exist that are like that, but they might as well not exist because anyone who’s actually a leftist would understand that antisemitism is a deflection from material issues

no true Scotsman fallacy. I’ve run into *enough* antisemitic leftists, and casually antisemitic rhetoric, that I think it’s worth addressing. The truth is ofc nowhere near the obviously false “supporting Palestine is antisemitic” talking point tho

Except it’s not a no true Scotsman fallacy, part of being a leftist is a materialist way of thinking that recognizes phenomena like racism, sexism, homophobia, etc as distractions from material issues. This is why leftists support causes like racial justice, empowerment of women, LGBT rights, etc.

“leftism” isn’t that homogeneous. there is common ground on labor and economics usually. but like, historic leftist movements have not been uniformly progressive on social issues, and even modern global leftist movements aren’t always socially progressive. And ofc there is individual variation

misogyny and sexism and transphobia are rampant in various leftist spaces, even by local leftist *leaders*. not everyone, not even most people, but enough that it warrants discussion At the end of the day, the movement is the people.

I’ve spent a long time in leftist circles and encountered all sorts of folks. you’re gonna sit here and tell *me* they don’t exist? maybe consider that your lived experience isn’t quite comprehensive instead of springing for denialism to protect your cognitive dissonance

I mean in theory yes but in practice there’s plenty of leftists in this very group who fully embrace the r slur, weird misogyny, etc I don’t see why you assume none would be antisemitic
