Except that doesn’t make it any better. Slavery is a horrific crime against humanity. He’s trying to justify slavery because slaves wouldn’t commit other crimes instead? Which isn’t even true because slaves committed crimes all the time. Like stealing food and running away from their plantations.

Everytime a magatard has an issue with something they blame it on their liberal boogieman. Racist republicans fought like absolute hell to ensure freed slaves were still heavily scrutinized and indebted to wannabe owners (sharecropping, etc.). Not sure why you get your opinions from palantir but maybe it’s time to look at the pattern of disenfranchisement against, frankly, any poc.

This is so untrue. Reread your history. Republicans freed the slaves and putting place equality. It was Democrat Woodrow Wilson who brought back segregation and the Jim Crow laws.

Correct. Democrats used to be the slave owners. The ideologies changed, it’s called the party switch. Republicans became more conservative as democrats became more progressive. Republicans emerged during the late stages of antebellum. You should also know that many dems at the time were fighting back into office to reinstate their racist ideologies. It wasn’t uncommon for them to run as republicans then enact the “Democrat” agenda. The two parties are very different in the modern world
