The problem with Trump isn’t him on his own but the political systems that empower him to do whatever he wants.

The big difference is in their level of political control. Living under Maduro in Venezuela is worse than the USA now, because Venezuela’s economy is volatile when mismanaged, and Maduro had complete political power. This complete power allowed for his silencing of the opposition, election rigging, killing of protesters, and imprisoning of journalists.

Trump would LOVE to do all those things if he had the same level of control as Maduro, but the distinguishing factor is that Trump would love to do a lot of *way worse* things too. Trump wants mass deportations without trail of ethnic minorities as a whole, not just immigrants. He thinks brown people aren’t really Americans and the children of immigrants don’t deserve citizenship rights.

He also indicated he is interested to go to war with Canada, Mexico, Denmark, Colombia, Venezuela, Cuba, and Panama to fulfill his imperialist positions. He has shown he thinks terrorists deserve execution without trial, and that he considers anyone who protests against him terrorists. He called for the execution of political opponents and the rigging of elections. He’d do all the shit Maduro did (though our economy is harder to collapse), PLUS a bunch of ethnic cleansing and wars.
