I have not been given reasons why it matters. No one has directly shown why it matters. They’ve given PREFERENCES and OPINIONS, but not why it matters. The earth is going to die anyways, so why does it matter to take care of it? It doesn’t. It literally doesn’t matter. Nothing matters according to THEIR philosophies

We matter because we are beings with emotions. I would argue that we and other sentient beings are what makes anything matter. Our emotion and consciousness brings a value into the universe that would be cold and uncaring otherwise.

I believe that consciousness creates a capacity for desire and meaning. We can want things. We can experience things. That creates a value. A universe without life does not care what happens, but we care because we have the capacity to care. You’re not going to get an easy answer because this is one of the deepest philosophical debates. But simply, I value my own life and the lives of others. Therefore they have value. It’s enough for me
