Spending a ton of money doesn’t mean the military is actually advancing. Not to mention Algeria has a much smaller GDP than the other countries on par with them so even if they’re spending a large percentage it’s still a relatively small number
Why does Algeria have such high military spending and we never hear about them what are they building up for this is scary

Military spending as percent of GDP is actually a very good measure of a country’s posture

They’re one of the largest economies in Africa wdym

They have the 32nd largest population in the world, the 51st highest GDP, and just 111th GDP per capita. Despite all this, they spend the 20th most on their military.
