black and white are shades, not singular colors in their own right. white is the reflection of all colors, black is the absorption of all colors.

Isn’t that how colors work though. The color you see is what’s reflected since black absorbs color it and has no reflection it has no color

“How colors work” depends on if you’re looking at it from a scientific or artistic perspective. scientists say white is the result of the whole visible spectrum reflecting back at you, color theory calls white a shade and not a color because it doesn’t have the ability to be tinted or shaded in itself
