US Evangelicals are genuinely what is killing this country, and until we widen up and realize that cult needs to be expelled from government, we are forever doomed Not all Christians. Just US Evangelicals, who barely have anything to do with Christians

Also yes I do think US Evangelism is its own entire religion. It’s a cult. They have basically nothing in common with Christs teachings

I’ve kinda noticed evangelicalism spreading its tentacles into other religions in the US, I grew up catholic and it feels like there’s a decent chunk of american “catholics” with weirdly evangelical beliefs nowadays. It’s like a plague

To be fair though, Christianity hasn’t really adhered to its founding concepts for a long long time. Even by the time of Paul you already had the shifting of social values to be more palatable under Rome. In my extremely unqualified opinion, you can’t really maintain the values of original Christianity well outside of small, localized communities. Anything bigger and politics starts rearing its head.

Just wish evangelicalism was more commonly acknowledged for being a literal cult

Like evangelicals are certainly some of the worst because they use their beliefs to be actively monstrous, but I don’t know that anyone today could really be said to adhere to the values of original Christianity, which existed in a very specific social context. But I’m an ex-Christian so like keep that in mind I’m not trying to be a douche

It’s converts who want evangelicalism with the historical weight and aesthetics of Catholicism. (Ahem… JD Vance)

Yeah that’s kinda why I view it as its own religion rather than an offshoot of Christianity. It has its own beliefs and pulls people away from their religions into it. The closest it comes to any denomination of Christianity is probably Protestantism

Bc it’s kind of (being generous) predatory, which makes confused and scared people during shaky times the perfect target
