I’d add onto this by adding that America from its inception has almost always been a society that places order over justice.

Your post is good. Really good. Though I personally wanted to add the caveat that America has long been fertile ground for cultivating paranoia through the most effective propaganda mechanisms in human history.

I agree with you that this is not a new phenomenon, the emergence of mass media way back in the 15th century led to a series of events that directly enabled the effective propagandization of vast swathes of the human population. It seems to me that what we see now is just an extension of elite desires to control the narrative and maintain the status quo
