For a president insistent on fixed-price contracts, where the provider has to eat unexpected costs, he seems really bad (yet consistently bad) at estimation:
Golden ballroom: $200m —> $1,400m
Golden dome: $175b —> $1,200b
Trump's proposed 'Golden Dome' estimated to cost $1.2 trillion, far more than he initially said
Well yeah, they gotta amplify the costs to funnel taxpayer money to their rich friends who get the no-bid contracts.

Whatever trump thinks a thing will cost, times it by seven

Because 2012 was to save it from sinking, not to paint it blue. Same thing with the Fed renovation Trump tried to sue Powell over

It fixed the sinking, but not well at all
They use the wrong size pipes, which led to leaks and more maintenance. And it had a terrible problem with algae due to mismanagement of the new water system
