Physical strength doesn’t matter that much compared to violent intent. Violence is still dangerous even if you have a physical advantage. If someone attacks me on the sidewalk, we could both topple into ongoing traffic. The issue is that a lot of men choose to attack innocent people for stupid reasons.

also for the record it’s mainly not the “physically stronger” part that makes me feel unsafe, it’s that predators behave like predators. If women spoke to me the way some men speak to me, they’d make me feel unsafe too.

except the states without a minimum wage, or states with minimum wages below the minimum. we seem to forget that the southeastern US, the poorest region in this country, lacks a lot of the legislation that other states have, hence why federal legislation is needed. this extends beyond labor laws and is exactly why civil rights legislation needed to be passed and enforced at the federal level

So that sort of ignores differences in cost of living, no? And even putting aside the nominal minimum wage, how many people actually make the federal minimum wage? It seems like even in states where there is no minimum wage above and beyond the federal one, there’s still significant wage growth, e.g., ~12.50 at McDonald’s. Like MS is #2 in real GDP growth, for example, and the cost of things like housing in much of the Southeast is actually declining despite a growing population…

At least most states are kinda taking things into their own hands. I live in PA and getting a Democrat majority to actually raise the minimum wage from federal minimum is damn near fucking impossible. Still, PA > GA, whose state minimum wage is still lower than federal 😭
