I work with middle schoolers. Rage baiting is one of the most annoying and frustrating things I’ve ever had to manage. I don’t think it “works” on me (bc you can see through it, you pick your battles), but it pisses me off so bad because I’ve never wanted to get a rise out of somebody JUST to get a rise out of them. Anger is a caused by sadness, fear, shame, boredom, difference, even guilt. I don’t think anybody should press on those things just to see someone get angry.

Then you end up with the effects of anger, which fuel isolation, anxiety, resentment, lack of concentration, confidence, self-control, and communication. I see it every day. Rage baiting is truly damaging, I cannot express how off-putting and demoralizing it is to witness the constant tussle of individuals seeking to frustrate others FOR FUN. You end up with children/adults who cannot regulate emotions, who feel intense guilt, who act impulsively, and who cannot communicate, socialize, or cope.
