It’s crazy that as a man, if your wife or girlfriend goes missing the immediate assumption is that you killed her.

Well statistically that’s the most likely scenario so that’s why it’s assumed.

If I were to say “well statistically x race commits more of those crimes so it’s justifiable for me to assume a x person did the crime”?

There’s a difference between abuse statistics, and a dogwhistle :) And don’t start quoting a crime statistic that you didn’t even read, as in quoting the VICTIM statistics as if it was the conviction statistics. Its funny that you brought this dogwhistle up too OP, a lot of magats use a similar one against immigrants and migration in general despite the fact that US-born citizens commit far more crime than immigrants do, per crime stats - ESPECIALLY violent ones like murder and rape.

💯. People assume profiling is bad when that’s literally how Law catches criminals

Yall are aware of the false conviction rate in this country, right? I wouldn’t be happy about our criminal system using profiling for the hasty closure of cases rather than genuine solving of them. That’s partly why some people have been exonerated decades into their prison sentence, because they were never guilty.

Profiling is used to catch and detain. Courts then go through due process to convict criminals. You are innocent until proven guilty.

Except the innocent until proven guilty party hasn’t always been true, only really for white folk, but especially now with the new instability in socioeconomic climate; yall see how things are changing back towards those times right? Congress even proposed a bill recently to allow deportation for ACCUSED FRAUD, not convicted. Profiling is used as a tool, yet we’re ignoring the historical and current context of the country, the prevalence of white supremacy in our country, and how ppl

Are trying to actively revive it. Maybe it’s time for a bit of an overhaul in our justice system? We’re acting as if it’s even effective or functional, when we still have a slate state for a prison system. The 14th never abolished slavery in the case of a prison sentence, and we maintained that position to this day. That’s why most prisons are privately owned, and prisoners are paid cents on the hour Additionally, the newly built ice facilities are also all privately owned and operated

With the prison system as well, with people detained for deportation subject to forced labor as well….. just in case we all weren’t aware of their true goals behind this resparked ethnic cleansing

No my apologies, I explained incorrectly: It was only ever FULLY true for white people, as in fully taken serious and granted, but people who weren’t white were more common to be falsely accused (violating that innocence clause) or even targeted federally (war on drugs, cia + fbi raids, etc etc)

Honestly I wouldn’t be surprised especially with all the COINTELPRO and CHAOS stuff from the 60s and 70s watching the black panther party. They were probably more worried about a material opposition group rising in the US against capitalism.
