mind you there’s only like 10 trans athletes and none of them are the best at their sportThe case for this is long past debunked. Trans Athletes do not preform significantly better in any area. Any perceived difference between trans and cis athletes declines and is unlikely when taking medication to transition. A person’s sex is made up of multiple biological characteristics and they may not all align as typically male or female in a given person.
See, I knew this shit would come up. 😭 Yeah I can tell you how, and would you like me to include XYY and XXY? Besides the fact that being transgender has to do with biological sex anyways unless the person wants to transition. If that is the case I’ve already provided you with the answer that after transitioning there is little to no difference in performance between cis and trans athletes.
you studied college biology and are still dumb enough to say "sex by definition is assigned at birth"? nah, sex by definition is according to what size gametes you produce. if you really studied college level biology you would know that external biology (which is what leads to birth assignments) does not always correlate with the gametes produced. did you cover intersex topics literally at all?
while using the definition i provided does not strictly allow anyone to "change sex" per se, you should also be fully aware that secondary sex characteristics (including muscle mass) are determined by hormones, which can fluctuate throughout life, and which most transgender care specifically seeks to change. while certain characteristics that are impacted by sex (ie. height) cannot be easily changed, height is also not uniformly useful across all sports. plus, tall cis women do exist.
because it would necessitate some method of confirming whether or not someone is trans which would require either violation of HIPAA or violation of physical privacy. i get the concern that some people who aren’t genuinely trans might take advantage of it. i think the solution is to implement some way to measure competitive advantages, like taking muscle mass specifically into account for example, and make sure competition is fair in that way rather than banning trans people altogether
Athletics typically doesn’t have to follow HIPAA laws unless they’re being medically cared for. I’m fairly certain a lot of athletic forms to even join a team have a question of what was your sex assigned at birth. This would not have to follow HIPAA especially if it is someone who is competing
other women also have a physical advantage over other women? it’s like saying all tall people need to be banned from basketball because they have an advantage. and also how do you even judge who has an advantage? if we do hormone testing or whatever, some cis women have higher levels of testosterone because of different things like pcos! this is such a stupid argument let people play fucking sports.
