If a key point for the rapture in the Bible is that people cannot accurately predict or cause the rapture, why are so many people obsessed with spurring the end times?

Yea I don’t get the point behind making them happen. It’s like, the whole point is that no one will know when the end will come (or when u you die which is more likely) so you should always try to be in right standing with God. Sure, it’s said that there will be evidence of the approach of the end times, but I’m sure people have felt that “this is it” for centuries now. The Great Depression, WW1 and 2, the dark ages, the Cold War, all are great contenders for the end.
