In the book of Revelation, the Rapture can only happen if Israel controls the Holy Land. Evangelical Christians pine for the Rapture as described in Revelation, they think it’s a literal thing that’s gonna happen, but only if the Jews control the Holy Land. Because in the Book of Revelation, the Jews control the Holy Land when Jesus comes back. So those types are heavy on Israel being important.

People are mentioning the revelation stuff and I think that’s a big part of it. Lots of secular people (both liberal and conservative) do as well though. It’s more difficult to understand why they support Israel

Their reasons could include “America needs an ally in the Middle East” (for what? If it’s about oil, that’s basically the only reason (besides weapons) that we’re still friendly with Saudi Arabia, an OPEC member) or “Israeli intelligence is the best in the world” (yeah, sometimes, but we should reduce our dependence on them)
