Sports teams don’t have to be local. The car dependency around most American stadiums is an absolute travesty. But it’s still one of the only remaining gathering places where everyone from a place can get along and root for a common goal. Sports are meaningless in the grand scheme of the world but the ability to bring people together is one of the strongest uniting forces

My experience is with the DFW metroplex where you have to drive to Arlington to watch sportsball since that entire city has 0 buses or any public transit of any sort I wish they kept the bus from the train to the stadium permanently but they just didn’t. It was just for the World Cup

And I say sportsball since that complex has the AT&T cowboys stadium, the globe life rangers field , the Choctaw MLS/Rangers Stadium, and the E-sports stadium

Move to Philly all the major stadiums are accessible by a dedicated subway stop and you wouldn’t have to root for the shit Cowboys anymore

That being said I think one of the things you might enjoy about DC is the proximity to some of the other major cities along the Northeast Corridor, it’s pretty easy to take a weekend trip to NYC, Boston, Philly, etc. with Amtrak or driving on 95. It’s easy and if you’re willing to do an overnight ride they have some really good deals

Actually sounds super dope, hope you enjoy. I’ll plug Philly one more time to say that they also have a super big rowing culture, you could check out the Stotesbury Cup on the Schyulkill as well. 2027 will be their 100th year if I remember as well

DC propaganda is not working since rent is legit almost $1000 more for a comparable apartment in DC than in Texas Comparable meaning like “near downtown, pretty nice, including parking fees etc”
