Visited the statue of liberty and Ellis Island, and I haven’t felt such patriotism in a long time. We can’t forget that we are a country founded by immigrants or lose sight of the ideals this statue represents.

Fun fact: She has a crown with 7 spikes to symbolize international community (7 continents) and broken shackles at her feet to celebrate the abolition of slavery and freedom from tyranny.

If you ever get the chance, visit the PA capitol building! The detail and symbolism is incredible. We have murals and mosaics depicting figures and history of our state, the nation, and the world. We have a mural celebrating the end of slavery and many statues of women to protest a former law preventing them from accessing most of the building.

A lot of it has to do with William Penn the state founder and the Quaker religion. While they weren’t quite secular, they had a very progressive view of accepting everyone and everything, believing Eden had to be recreated by humans. It fills me with state and national patriotism seeing it. We can accomplish literally anything when united. The building itself is testament to that. We need to be the golden city on the hill again :/
