i fear too many people never watched pocahontas and the hunchback of notre dame growing up and that’s why we have so many racist, homo/trans/etc.-phobic, straight up rude people in society

And what’s crazy is that both of those films are the only ones that outright address racism as bad with humans instead of animal allegory, and the films STILL use racist representations and slurs that people need context for today. also feel free to dive into WeroTheGreat on Youtube for their video essays on both of these films. they feel like the best type of film school lectures.

Each of the videos asks a question of a Disney film (chronological) and I kinda laughed at some. Robin Hood is “What Is A Furry?” and Beauty & The Beast asks “How Bad Was The AIDS Crisis?” … well when I watched the latter one, I was fucking bawling by the end of it and now I will never again see the film without crying for the beautiful and wonderful, Howard Ashman.
