they were a colony with no representation ruled by a monarch thousands of miles away, and they still attempted to peacefully negotiate before 1776. with all its flaws, we do in fact live in a system where people can make changes in a non-violent way.

There was definitely violence before 1776… peaceful protest alone does not and has never worked. The threat of violence is what makes it work, those in power have to be afraid, they have to fear the violent owner option, causing them to accept the peaceful demands. They don’t concede a single thing out of the goodness of their hearts. Oh and also look what happened to peaceful protestors in Nazi Germany.
