so crazy to me that the one good thing to come from scientific progress (modern medicine) is the one thing magats reject most. like everything else that came of scientific progress is like destroying the earth and our bodies and brains.

It’s so weird too cuz like their voter base which is often uneducated and in need of assistance are the people who need medical support the most and somehow they’re not only rejecting medicine but making it insanely more expensive to get medical support when they inevitably keel over

Yeah because there was a public health emergency? People were dying and the virus was spreading very quickly so they implemented actions to curb that. Once it became safer and the virus was no longer a threat, those mandates were lifted

Yes because vaccines protected people until newer strains of the virus were less deadly than the original, keep up “May be considered” is not saying “you must have a vaccine to get this job.” I’m willing to bet those jobs are in the health field where you’re more likely to be exposed to harmful diseases too but who am I to guess Ok? Many states ban all sorts of things that aren’t threats. Look at Florida, they just enacted a bill that bans fucking weather modification 💀

Can you read? I said that the first few strains were WORSE than the flu. That’s why they mandated vaccines when it was at its worst. When Covid became less dangerous for the average person, they got rid of the mandates. If the left were actually obsessed with vaccine mandates as you say, they would have kept the mandates for Covid through the entirety of Biden’s term and even installed one for the flu. But they haven’t, because they’re not actually obsessed with mandates.

Op literally just said that they would support forcing people to get the flu shot, there actually are people on the left (employers) who do require their employees to get the Covid shots and boosters. “People on the left” isn’t just referring to people in government lol, if this is your only point it’s weak at best and moot at worst

You know what has negative health impacts? Getting COVID. Especially if you’re immunocompromised and got it because some dipshit didn’t want to get vaccinated. Also, you know the flu is very dangerous if you aren’t vaccinated for it right? Ever heard of the Spanish flu? Killed 25 million people or so? You think the flu isn’t bad because we all get vaccinated for it. Fucking joke of a political ideology. “It’s muh personal right to smear typhoid-infected feces everywhere. Freedoooommmmm”

We legally mandate that people wear seatbelts, and that largely only impacts us. Why should we not mandate public health in the same way? Not getting vaccinated doesn’t just hurt you, it can kill other people.

Pretending that the Covid vaccine is even within orders of magnitude as dangerous as getting Covid unvaccinated is astoundingly ridiculous. Seatbelts occasionally hurt people, but they overwhelmingly save more lives which is why we mandate them. Doctors sometimes tell certain people with certain conditions not to get the flu shot, but that doesn’t apply for everybody.

The Covid vaccine has an extremely low rate of harm. Billions of doses have been given, if it was anywhere near as dangerous as hysterical antivaxxers say, the impact would be well documented and antivaxxers would sieze upon actual data which supported their worldview. If you cared about listening to doctors, you would know the overwhelming recommendation is that the people should get vaccinated. But you don’t care what professionals acrually say, and neither do other anti-vaxxers.

How the fuck have we reached a world where vaccines are being fearmongered and are politically contentious. We eradicated smallpox. We nearly eradicated polio and measles. Yellow fever isn’t making orphans in American cities. Influenza is something we have reduced in severity so much that people aren’t even scared of it anymore.

Because covid is not dangerous for the vast majority of people, many don’t even know when they have it. And because serious adverse effects have been shown to occur from the vaccine, with more information still coming out

Anonymous replying to -> #3 1d

Wow it’s almost like after people get vaccinated the symptoms aren’t nearly as bad if you catch Covid. You’re notably leaving out that the rate of those serious adverse side affects is way way lower than the rate of serious harm from getting COVID. Again, this is like if I started ranting about all those people who were hurt by seatbelts or airbags while ignoring all the people who didn’t die in car accidents because of them.

If you’re so invested in these complex immunological studies and meta-analyses about vaccine safety, maybe you’d listen to the recommendations from the experts that do them? But you don’t, because all you care about is cherry picking stuff that supports your biases, while refusing to look at the overall statistics which show that the Covid vaccine has helped way way way more people than it has harmed

upvote 6 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> #4 1d

The mortality rate of covid has always been low… the vast majority are not “seriously harmed” by covid. if there are people who have been seriously harmed by the vaccine and more information is still coming out about it, let’s not force everyone in the country to get it. Simple

And you think more information isn’t coming out about the impacts of long covid on people who didn’t die? Still a fucking clown ass worldview. “We still don’t know the full health impacts of seatbelts, people shouldn’t have to use them.” Covid vaccination demonstrably reduces the death rates. If the harm from vaccines was statistically notable enough to outweigh that it would show up in the statistics very quickly. But yeah no keep being afraid of seatbelts

The Covid vaccine does also have several risk factors that are still being studied, including being linked to serious heart diseases. Until we can fully trust them, let’s not force everyone person in our country to inject ourself with it. Over a disease that has virtually no lasting impact to the majority. Thank you all

Oh so the risk of heart disease after Covid vaccination is significant? Yongyeon Choi et al. is a meta analysis of 33 studies which found that the risk of myopericarditis heart disease after Covid infection was 42 times higher than than the risk from vaccination. You can’t say that the vaccine impact is important but the 42 times higher rate isn’t. Cherry picking.

Covid is much more dangerous and you don’t seem to realize that. People with existing anti-vax agendas pretend the risk from vaccines is much higher and downplay the very real dangers from getting it when unvaccinated. That rhetoric has killed people. If the covid vaccines didn’t do much more good than harm, epidemiological research would show such and experts wouldn’t be promoting them. Please just read some studies. I genuinely wish you the best. Stay safe.
