Here’s the dollar for the Bicentennial for reference. The obverse portrays President Eisenhower who passed away in 1969 and who had been on the dollar coin since 1971. The reverse portrays the Liberty Bell, a global symbol of freedom and the Moon, which Americans were the first to set foot on in 1969

Here’s the Bicentennial Half Dollar. The Obverse features President Kennedy who was assassinated in 1963 and has been on the coin since 1964. The reverse portrays Independence Hall in Philadelphia, the original US capital and where the Declaration of Independence was signed

We’re going to have to upgrade the printers at the mint if they want these details 💀

It looks like they modeled it after the half dollar the way his hair covers “LIBERTY” but then had doubts about replacing the most beloved president in modern history and quickly slapped $1 on there

Wait that’s exactly what happened, that’s why In God We Trust is formatted on both sides of the bust instead of on the left only

We’ve done some pretty awesome detailing on coins but it’s so hard to do shading. Look at the 2025 high relief versions of the 2025 Sunflower and the 2017 African American Lady Liberty gold bullion coins
