Heard JDs speech, I still hate word “alien”. Takes me back when I would translate legal forms to my parents and I had to mark legal “alien” which just made me feel more of a outcast than I already was. Ik it’s a legal term but idc I hate it
He can’t even convey factually correct information about ongoing investigations, no shot he’d ever be politically correct. I also don’t believe “alien” is even the legally correct terminology anymore, but I could be wrong there.

The dehumanization is intentional

They never use the term when talking about any other immigrant. Just the ones coming from the southern border

“there are ALIENS STEALING JOBS” and then they heel turn to say they love chinese immigrants (as a Chinese immigrant, they fucking disgust me. but I know that to be fetishized/idolized is better than to be written off entirely)

I know during the 2010s it was a term I saw a lot on our legal documents for citizenship but I rly don’t see it anymore so I don’t see why he uses it to often in that damn speech😭

Yeah, it was a used to refer to immigrants long before it became popular for extraterrestrial beings. But the meaning has since changed.
