You’re not going to believe this but yes. Its a Spanish rapier. My grandpa owns it and it will pass to me someday. It has many meaningful decorative symbols etched in. I may send a pic here if you want.

Yes, my grandfather gave my family’s sword to me. It is one of my greatest prized possessions and has a lot of history attached to it. I was gifted a sabre from the other side of my family but that was a war trophy from Germany so i am not counting that

I’d love to see that! This one’s less than 100 years old. Japanese, but the mass produced ones used in the war. It’s my dads but it’ll be passed to me

lol ours is a war trophy too, only one we got so I gotta count that 😅 The story behind getting it is cooler than the story of how it was used at least. His ship was the 2nd to enter Tokyo bay for the surrender, a few days before the ceremony. His ship was tasked with sweeping mines in the bay and clearing out various ports so he got it directly as opposed to trading for it like most sailors did
