It's not his job to give instructions to US troops to adhere to nor defy orders. Say what you want about the situation, but was objectively not his job

it quite literally is his job? to uphold the law and constitution, both as a senator and a service member. it’s the law. it is codified in the UCMJ—soldiers not only can disobey manifestly unlawful orders, but have a duty to disobey them.

It’s the job of every military personnel to defend the constitution. That includes refusing orders that defy the constitution.
