The republicans as a majority don’t want gay marriage

The Republicans are the majority in all 3 branches of government, as well as being the leading party in many states. Is it illegal to be gay in any state in this country, yes or no

You didn’t understand what I just said. The majority of the party wants gay marriage overturned. They can hold all 3 branches that’s irrelevant since that’s a SCOTUS decision. They as a party WANT it gone.

1: Doesn’t matter what they want, it still exists 2: That has nothing to do with whether BEING GAY is illegal or not. Even if gay marriage was illegal, it’s not ILLEGAL to be gay here and never will. Comparing the situation there to here is literal apples to oranges

1. It 100% matters if the entire argument is if trumps base, the republican base OKAY with gay people. 2.

Yes, at various times, it was illegal to be gay in America, as states enforced sodomy laws and other discriminatory policies against gay individuals. While laws criminalizing same-sex sexual acts existed since colonial times and through much of U.S. history, they were gradually decriminalized by individual states starting in the 1960s. Homosexuality was finally decriminalized on a federal level in 2003

What are you talking about “was,” I’m talking about IS and WILL BE. It is CURRENTLY straight up ILLEGAL to be gay there, and here is not and never will be again. That’s the difference. Apples and oranges

So you’re just disregarding the fact that it was already illegal to be gay here and Trumps base made up of republicans do not want to afford equal rights to gay people, like marriage?

What is used to be here is completely irrelevant to the conversation lol. OP and the quote OP are both talking in present tense. And again, the current official republic stance is in support of gay marriage. Just, consistent with the rest of the republican ideology, it is not the federal government’s place to rule on it, it is the states. It is fear mongering saying otherwise

It’s not irrelevant. If republicans as a whole do not want something in relation to strictly gay people. Then Trumps base made up of republicans are not okay with gay people. The OP wasn’t asking if being gay was illegal or not. A majority do not want gay marriage. You’re moving the goalpost lol.

It’s because OP was a strawman lmao, “is this okay with Hamas” was a clear reference to their LAW making being gay ILLEGAL. Then OP came and compared apples to oranges saying “people don’t like this” is comparable to it being a capital offense. There is quite literally no comparison between the treatment of gay people by the US Gov and Hamas. Zero comparison

They never mentioned legality. What’s your proof it wasn’t referring to the moral response of homosexuality?

Because it takes pretty simple media literacy to put 1 and 2 together. When non democratic government actually “doesn’t like” something it’s usually banned. Which means illegal. And it is in fact a capital offense. And Hamas enforces said offense. I think it’s a much larger jump to think they were talking about a singular “Mr. Hamas” that just doesn’t hold the opinion that gay people are very nice.

Actually OOP just mentions homophobia in comments too. Nobody ever mentions the legality of being gay. You’re extrapolating. I said to show PROOF they did not mean morally. Not tell me your feelings.

I really think it takes a very basic level of critical thinking that you either don’t have or are insisting on not using for sake of your argument. It’s ridiculous to think you can compare a ruling non-democratic government “not liking” something and making it a capital offense to A ruling democratically elected government having members of it that don’t agree with it but still allow it to happen and protect them under law

Again, your feelings do not dictate reality. They never mentioned legality so show proof that they ONLY meant legality and not morally responding to it.

Watch I’ll show you another example of you using your feelings instead of facts. Show me when I said I was a leftist. I’ll wait.
