There’s an apocryphal story about Rome falling some time after they planted more rose gardens than food gardens. Among other things. Wonder if it’s data centers or pot farms for America. Among other things.

An appropriate reaction in a country like the US should be to continue the voting against the use of good land for things like this and instead use the right to vote in city/county elections to engage and encourage and put in place things like community gardens and better use of public land for the community and our children. I appreciate my current city expanding their community gardens but I also appreciate third places being considered. The space then can be used by so many more people.

Rose gardens don't generate tons of money like regulated marijuana does. My money will be golf courses (public and/or private) or other entertainment locations that are subsidized by cities or counties though additional taxes and that barely break even. My university’s city did that for a freaking arena almost 10 years ago and are still paying for it 😞. The school isn't even that good at basketball and the arena only sees occasional big performers outside of basketball season use.

Certainly not. I enjoy it. But I’m gonna speak pragmatically, in that lots of people will be much more pliable/less likely to cause a stir if they’re baked out of their gourd. More symbolic than demonstrably responsible for the country falling apart.

Oh yeah, golf courses. That’s much more apt. The word doing the heavy lifting in my post is “apocryphal.” Story is so many Romans were growing them in their houses and otherwise. Replaced food gardens, no more Romans. Silly story. Regulated MJ is an imperfect comparison.

When space, location, and access of public space are limited often the community suffers. Like, only so many people can play golf at once in a public course but so many more people can use a public park at once. I also appreciate libraries and public poolscommunity plots. Americas stregth was and continues to be it’s communities and sense of belonging even when different and that can continue.

This country's pride was and is its sense of pride in community and it's opportunities to better your life. What better way than to encourage the ability to be more selfsufficient and gain skills. Parks, community gardens, access to education, access to knowledge (libraries) all help people feel pride in community and encourage people to learn skills and grow. These opportunities in turn also encourages pride in self and communities. Regardless of party please encourage these opportunities.
